John Rhodes, widely known as “CryptoHunter,” is an American researcher, investigator, and television personality recognized for his decades-long work exploring unexplained phenomena, hidden histories, and unconventional scientific questions. Since the early 1990s, Rhodes has conducted pioneering research into the concept of crypto-terrestrials, proposing that non-human intelligences may share Earth with humanity while remaining largely hidden. His early investigative work into reported reptilian humanoid encounters (“reptoids”) helped establish him as the first researcher to systematically document and analyze this controversial subject.
Rhodes is also well known for his investigations into cattle mutilation cases, reports of underground installations, and alleged deep-underground military bases, including the widely discussed Dulce, New Mexico site. His work combines field investigation, witness interviews, historical documentation, and pattern analysis to explore phenomena that often fall outside mainstream academic inquiry.
With more than three decades of experience in media and research, Rhodes has appeared in numerous documentary and investigative television programs. His 32 years of television credits include Unsolved Mysteries, Ancient Aliens, UFO Hunters, The Conspiracy Zone, Animal X, Beyond Belief, MonsterQuest, Weird or What?, and The UnXplained with host William Shatner, among many others examining mysteries of science, history, and the paranormal.
